Our store is located in the place where the jihon wholesaler “Koshodo” was founded (4-11 Senzoku, Taito-ku), “almost” the birthplace of the jihon wholesaler Tsutaya, which was established by Tsutaya Juzaburo. In the Yoshiwara Saimin published by Juzaburo, you can see “Hikite-chaya Tsutaya” and “jihon wholesaler Tsutaya Juzaburo” on the left side of Gojikken-dori at the Yoshiwara Daimon Gate.

At the Ukiyo-e Cafe, we exhibit and sell ukiyo-e and old books created by Tsutaya Juzaburo’s “Koshodo”, a publisher of great achievements in the Edo period.

Even now, there are about 30 carvers and printers active in the Taito, Arakawa and Sumida wards. At Ukiyo Cafe, you can see, touch and purchase original ukiyo-e and reprinted woodblock prints made during the Edo period. Please enjoy the exhibits while enjoying hand-dripped coffee and naturally grown tea.

We hope that by running the Ukiyo-e Cafe we can revitalize the Shin Yoshiwara area and promote traditional techniques.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but the museum tends to be crowded on weekends and holidays, so we have a maximum stay time of one hour from the time of entry. We ask for your understanding and cooperation with the time limit so that more customers can view the artworks.

We will guide you so that you can handle some of the works.
